Dear Editor,
The residents of Kwakwani and Hururu are again concerned about the rising water in the Berbiee River. We are seeing the disruption of our logging activities happening once more.
It was challenging to build a road dam in the water, but the Logging Association did it. We must thank the Minister for showing his faith in this Association. Now this dam needs shoring up.
Due to the heavy rain that is falling every day, this road/dam is being damaged. Within another four to five days, work might have to start anew. Over the past five days, an average six logging trucks have been using this road/dam each day.
Should this road/dam become inaccessible, the initial effort made by Minister Robert Persaud and the Logging Association may be a wasted effort. Let’s do what has to be done to keep the trucks crossing.
