Horseracing action switches to the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club (NSMTC) Silver Park No 6 West Coast Berbice where the authorities will bring off their first race meet of the year which is a Grand eight race meet slated for Sunday July 18.
Close to $3.5M in cash and prizes will be available for the outstanding performers on the day and with such hefty takings available the day’s action is expected to be fever pitch. Entries are expected to close on Sunday July 11 and already over 50 horses have so far taken entry for the days proceedings.
There are four feature events listed on the day’s programme. The C and lower, the 3 yr old open, the 2 yr old event and the F class are all top notch races while the event for horses classified G &H is another top race.
The feature C class1400M event has seen the organisers putting up a heft $450,000 as the prize money for the winner. The three old race for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies has a winners money of $330,000 with the distance being 1600M. The winner of the two year old race for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies will see the winner getting $250,000 with the distance being 1000M.
The F class event will be contested over 1200M and has a first prize of $240,000. The winner of the G &H class contest will take away $200,000 also over 12000M.
The ‘I’ and J and lower race is another 1200M affair with the winner expected to get $140,000.
There is a race for I3 Maiden non winner’s horses over 1100M with the winning prize tagged at $130,000. The final event is for K and L class horses over 1200M and the winning prize set at $120,000.
There will be prizes for the top Jockeys, trainers and stable on show. The top individual performers will all be presented with trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market.

Race time is 13:00hrs and all of the countries top horses are expected to be on show.
The track has been upgraded and race fans are expected to view racing in absolute comfort as the authorities of the facility has done tremendous work in making sure the facility is second to none. The grand stand has also been refurbished for the adequate and absolute comfort for those in attendance.
