Former Guyana youth player Ryan Hercules continued his good showing in the English leagues for Shadwell CC with a Man-of-the-Match performance in his latest 20/20 match in the United Kingdom.
The Essequibo fast bowling all-rounder top scored with 45 after getting off the mark with 3 consecutive fours. He added 86 with Joe Edison (41) for the 3rd wicket after joining forces with their team on 2-1.
After Hercules was caught on the cover boundary in the 16th over the last 7 wickets tumbled for 7 runs as his team was all out for 96 on a good hard pitch to bat on. Bardsey CC were off to a poor start when they began their reply as Hercules struck with the first ball of the innings and again in his next over to finish with 2-13 from 4 overs. However, an unbeaten 51 from Pakistani Basit Butts led Bardsey to victory.
“The game was wonderful with lots of people and owners of big clubs. What a time to get a Man-of-the-Match award. It was very exciting,” Hercules told Kaieteur Sport.
“In our league we are fighting at 3rd on the points table at the half-way stage of the season. I got 6-26 against Wetherby CC then 4-14 against Little Ribston. I also have scores of 82,78,70,45 and so far have 608 runs and 49 wickets.
My knee is feeling fit and I am bowling well and playing good all round cricket and looking forward for the second half of the season,” said Hercules who has fully recovered from a knee surgery last year.
Hercules dedicated his Man-of-the-Match performance to his mother who celebrated her birthday last Saturday and whom he said is the person mainly responsible for his development as a person.
