Dear Editor,
As much as the World Cup Soccer and Wimbledon have me busy, I have to admit that I was in awe to read the dailies that the “Lady Jaguars” have qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup later in the year in Havana, Cuba.
I am excited about the strides taken in different sports fraternities as of recent and always remember, commitment, dedication and discipline must at all times be maintained.
Until the team departs, there is no slack time or recreation, but more practice should full the time schedule.
Stronger and more experienced teams await you in the arena, so you have also got to leave with a mindset that you are as good as your competition and it’s the skills and techniques which will be the deciding factor.
Turning to Wimbledon, a favourite of mine, Nadal played his game to the level that was expected and deserved the title. Serena must also be credited for her performance.
The big one, Soccer: I have left a few persons with their heads in their hands and some even threatened to push me over board. I also think that there is a restraining order preventing me from visiting a particular residence.
With the last four remaining teams, I would jump with joy to witness “Spain and The Netherlands” in the final. For me, I believe that final will be the 2010 battle of the titans. I am just hoping and wishing that it becomes a reality. Let Germany and Uruguay battle for the third position.
