The relatives of 20-year-old Harrinarine Mahadeo of Anna Chatherina who was electrocuted while plucking chicken are calling on the relative authority to carrying out a thorough investigation.
Relatives of the dead man are claiming that had it not been for a faulty plucking machine 20-year-old Mahadeo, called ‘Mickey’ would have been alive.
One relative who asked not to be identified for fear of victimization said that they were told by neighbours that since Mahadeo’s employer sourced the machine he had been having problems with it but failed to rectify the problem.
“He tell people he buy some part fuh the machine but he never get the person to fix it. People afraid to come forward because the man got money.”
The relative told this newspaper that initially they were told that the current struck Mahadeo via his leg, however there was no mark indicating such. This newspaper was told that the post mortem revealed a burn mark to the man’s stomach area, hence the relatives are calling on the relative authority to investigate.
“This man since he got a business should have gotten a certified electrician to set up the machine.”
In addition this newspaper was told that officials from the Ministry of Labor paid a visit to the premises which is located at Fourth Street, Anna Catherina, but they were told that the owner of the premises was not at home.
On Wednesday last, Mahadeo was operating the plucking machine at a business place a few houses away from his home shortly after 14:00 hours. According to a neighbour, Mahadeo was alone at the time of the incident.
A resident in the area observed the teen lying on the ground close to the plucking machine. The resident and others raised an alarm then rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where Mahadeo was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff.
