As was stated in 3rd June edition under the headline “Divorce rate continues to rise,” the no fault divorce consultation, was not assented to in March 2009.
And Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Priya Manickchand said that the government does not reform important pieces of Legislation without full consultation of the people which is still ongoing.
She said while consultation so far has revealed a favourable disposition toward reform, that consultation process has not been completed, and the government will not be tabling any Bill until the process of consultation is completed.
