A suspected thief was last evening shot dead at Bourda Market, reportedly by a City Constabulary official.
Officials gave the man’s name as “Abdul Kadir”, and market vendors last evening said that he was believed to have broken into several stalls. They described him as a nuisance.
Shortly before 21:00hrs last evening, he was accosted by the City Constabulary on Orange Walk, under the market, but apparently made threatening moves towards the officers when he was shot.
The man, said to be in his 30’s, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police at the scene were tightlipped and no relatives had visited the hospital as of press time.
