The truth is the greatest enemy of the State

Dear Editor,
Adolph Hitler once said “All propaganda has to be popular and has to adapt its spiritual level to the perception of the least intelligent of those towards whom it intends to direct itself.” Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda czar, said “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
The ruling PPP regime today has taken these principles as gospel. It operates from the position that its support-base (mainly the masses of Indo-Guyanese) are the “least intelligent”, and because of that will always support the PPP.
Based on this insulting and incorrect perception, the PPP spews out lies designed to incite racial insecurity among Indo-Guyanese. However, the very fear that the PPP has been instilling over the years, is now coming back to bite them as they realise that Indians are no longer as willing to accept the lies, the appeal to race, and the guilt complex psychology of making them feel that they are traitors for voting against the PPP.
That is why the PPP, caught now in mortal fear itself, has recently upped the vicious attacks on its most vocal Indo-Guyanese critics.
Their latest object of attack is the Party that is most likely to lead the next government, the AFC.
They cannot attack the AFC on principles, ideas, corruption, or any of the areas in which they have been found wanting. So they resort to the race card. That is the only thing that they know. It is one of the few things of late that they have had success at. The latest deception they’ve deployed from their armoury is to suggest that the AFC has a racial division in its ranks. This is not surprising. We know that today the PPP has become the father of lies.
The lie factory in Robb Street (once a bastion in the fight for freedom) and its super-salaried tricksters in the Office of the President and GINA want Indians to believe that Afro-Guyanese in the AFC want to control the AFC.
It is important for them to spin this yarn because it fits into the Babu John mantra that says Afro-Guyanese want power to turn guns on their Indo-Guyanese brothers and sisters.
However, Indians today are becoming increasingly fed up and are seeing through the lies of the PPP regime.
They’ve come to realise the PPP uses fear to drive them to the Cup come election time, and therefore know the promise to protect them from criminals is but a hollow one.
The PPP knows that there is no conflict in the AFC. They are aware the AFC is the only multiracial party in Guyana that has the resolve, vision and commitment to bridge the racial divide. They are afraid of the increasing popularity of the AFC. They have therefore now gone into a panic. They are rushing to give some jobs to Afro-Guyanese contractors, and to make token donations all over the country.
In their panic too, they have gone on a wild smear campaign of the AFC. The lies and slander reflects both their emptiness and the disregard for the intelligence of Guyanese.
More than anything though, it indicates their belief that their lies will find appeal with the Indo-Guyanese masses whom they treat as the “least intelligent”.
This has only exposed how isolated the PPP has become today, and how it has completely transformed since the death of Dr. Jagan, a true Champion of the Guyanese working people.
The night is here, but the dawn is not far away. Change is coming to our dear land, but it will take the effort of all Guyanese to achieve this. Each one of us has to be the change. To do this we must resist the propaganda now.
