Dear Editor,
First of all, I have to commend GT&T for its new and innovative marketing strategy with regards to the “Emagine” billboards project. Indeed, I was very much in suspense when I first came in contact and was desperate to know what was coming.
Being a customer of both telephone companies (Digicel and GT&T), I view this as an ideal entrance of re-invention to the local market by the latter. I say to both companies, keep your marketing campaigns clean.
As for the dogmatic actions by the authorities to have those billboards pulled down, it was the lowest level you have gone. In many ways this particular action can cause the private sector community in pulling back with any potential projects that would have temporarily beautify the environment and it will also be a loss of revenue to the M&CC, who would usually grant permission and badly in need of cash to attend to many situations facing the city that needs urgent attention.
It’s now evident that there are many axes to grind and one has got to wonder, who and where are these orders coming from?
