Mobile giant, Digicel, launched its 2010 summer promotion Wednesday evening at the Princess Hotel and Casino. Each year Digicel stages a promotion where its customer base gets the opportunity to win several ‘extravagant’ prizes.
This year is no different. Wednesday marked the beginning of the Spin N’ Win Promotion where Digicel customers would have the opportunity to win $50M cash jackpots.
According to Head of Marketing for Digicel, Jacqueline James, the company seeks to make every year’s promotion more exciting than the last.
She highlighted previous promotions such as the Red Hot Summer Scorcher where 12 scooters were given out along with other prizes. The following year the company gave Guyana the Bimmer Flex promotion that saw 42 people receiving $100,000 instant cash prizes and two other lucky persons driving off in their own BMW 116i.
This year the company is hoping to make multimillionaires out of a few lucky Digicel customers.
The competition uses the letter system that was used in the Bimmer Flex promotion but this time customers will have to collect the letters that spell out J-A-C-K-P-O-T. The letters can be obtained through card and electronic top-ups and will automatically be added to one’s account. Spelling out the word qualifies a customer to win $50,000 or gives them a chance to spin the wheel for cash in a televised game show style drawing.
These drawings will be held at the end of each month. According to the company, the competition will see higher stakes being offered as the rounds progress.
At the launching on Wednesday evening the company staged a charity version of the game show where the players were representatives from a number of media houses. It even saw some $718,000 going towards charities such as the New Amsterdam Special Needs School, the Guyana Relief Council and the Kids First Fund which garnered the largest donation as a result of the lucky spins by Victor Vanvield of National Communications Network.
James also noted that Digicel will be taking the Spin N’ Win wheel on the road to give customers around the country the opportunity to win cash and prizes as well. Meanwhile, as of yesterday it became possible for customers to start collecting letters for the competition.
