Dear Editor,
Listening to the radio station yesterday morning (30-07-10), I heard a commercial from Guyana Power and Light (GPL) thanking the general public for the 600 odd applications that were received for the position for Agents at Large.
Mr. Editor, I was amazed to hear that a company who has around 900 employees received so many applications for a temporary position. I started to think that we’ve really turn like scavengers. It just shows how unemployment is affecting us in Guyana, when Government is boasting of development in Guyana.
What most applicants might not know is that GPL will have to do a screening process of the applications, then select the most favourably applicants and take them through a training process and after that select the best to fit the positions which I guess to be around 25-50.
Imagine how disappointed those who did not get the job are, they will now have to wait for another opportunity to arise and pray for success.
Unemployment is really effecting us in Guyana, travel around this country and you will be amazed to see how many educated young people are without jobs or the type of jobs they have for their qualifications just to get money for survival.
It’s nice to know that Government will attack and victimize people for talking bad about Guyana or the way Guyana is governed, when the facts are there for all of us to see.
