Defeat Victoria Kings 2-0
Goals by William Europe and Ryan Croal piloted Melanie Lions to a comfortable 2-0 win over Victoria Kings and overall victory in the inaugural Mark Sutton Foundation seven-a-side football competition which was contested on Sunday last at the Melanie Playfield.
The Lions roared to the top prize of $40,000, trophy and gold medals after drawing a bye in eth semi final which saw Victoria Kings defeating Beterverwagting who took the bronze medals in the nine team competition.
In preliminary results of the knock-out tournament, BV trounced Melanie Patriots 2-0, Ann’s Grove edged Monedderlust 2-1, Take It were outplayed 2-0 by Melanie Lions, Daredevils drew the bye but lost to Victoria Kings 2-0 in their quarter-final match-up with Melanie Lions roaring past Ann’s Grove 2-1.
