Qualifies for Canadian Nationals; inches closer to IFBB Pro Card
Guyana born Eustace Abraham, undeniably one of the most dominant amateur bodybuilders in Ontario, Canada and a strong contender in line for his IFBB pro card, competed on Saturday June 17th at the Ontario Provincial Championships at a bodyweight of 232 lbs, the lightest in his superheavyweight class, placing 4th in a lineup of six well chiseled and defined athletes.
Abraham’ performance enabled him to qualify for the Canadian Nationals which will be held in August of this year.
International IFBB bodybuilding superstar Darrem Charles who originally hails from Trinidad & Tobago was on hand to present Abraham’s medal to him and according to Abraham, Charles jokingly told him that he was ‘good for business’ and to keep in the same direction.
Abraham stated that at the weigh-in the night prior to competition when he saw the lineup of athletes he already knew he was in the top five so there was no need to peak when he was moving on as compared to the other guys who came in at their best in order to keep their qualification and stay at the level.
Abraham also mentioned that he has changed his approach this year and this is due to the fact that some of the hottest IFBB Professionals, some of whom he has competed against in the past at the amateur level have all moved on including the likes of Simon Voyeur, Faoud Abiad and Lou Joseph; they are dominating the international scene and magazines.
Abraham also explained that there are several modeling/bodybuilding organisations who are calling their athletes professionals but are not affiliated to the IFBB noting that “Some of these guys don’t stand a chance against athletes in a level one IFBB affiliated show here.”
Becoming an IFBB Pro according to Abraham is a long and grueling affair but he has been walking between the raindrops by the Grace of God as he seeks to become the third Guyanese to earn a Pro Card following Hugh Arlington Ross and Sylvan Gardner.
