Thieves hit Diamond house in broad daylight

Thieves hit a Diamond house and carted off a quantity of valuables on Thursday. Faieze Bacchus and Imran Khan said that the robbery occurred some time between 9am and 12noon.
Speaking with Kaieteur News, yesterday, Khan said that his wife left the 179 Section ‘A’, Block ‘X’, Diamond New Scheme property some time around 9am to help with graduation preparations at his daughter’s nursery school located in Grove.
When she returned home, she noticed their backdoor and a side window were open, which Khan believes the thieves used to gain entry to the property.
Imran Khan said that his wife immediately raised an alarm, following which he rushed home from work.
He indicated that he encouraged his wife not to touch anything in the house while he made a report at the Diamond/Grove Police Station. Khan said officers from the Criminal Investigation Department took fingerprints later in the afternoon.
Among the items that were taken by the thieves were a television set, DVD player, toaster, an iron, blending machine and water pump. Khan said that he is still combing the home to find out what else he may have lost during the brazen attack.
The family believes that their property, which is surrounded by unattended bushy lots, is under a serious threat, given the treacherous nature of their environs. Khan is of the view that thieves can use the bushes as their safe haven, which he believes actually happened.
“Anything can happen around here. Look at how this place bushy because those people who own the lands are not coming and clean their lands. I hope the Ministry of Housing will do something about this soon,” Khan lamented to this newspaper.
“Those people that have their lands and don’t clean them are endangering people’s lives. Look at what happen to me now. Those thieves clean me up. I have to now find money to buy back those things that I lose,” he continued, adding that his wife is traumatised.
Khan said that his wife went out to purchase an item at the shop yesterday and when she returned she was obviously shaken when she called him. He said that his wife related to him that she was having visions of the attack that occurred the day before.
