The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club continued to invest in the development of youths by making a financial donation to 9 year-old Tiah Alesha Johnson.
The donation will assist the Port Mourant Primary School student to purchase her airline ticket to attend the upcoming Hampton Games in Trinidad & Tobago, next month.
The promising young athlete would be taking part in the 200m and 400m races at the Under-10 level.
Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the presentation ceremony said the club readily agreed to assist Johnson because they are confident that Johnson has the ability to make Guyana proud and also because she was a positive role model to her peers.
Foster disclosed that the donation was made possible due to efforts of the Club’s Pepsi Under-19 and Metro Female Cricket Teams.
He wished the young athlete a successful Hampton Games and urged her to always give of her best and she would get the necessary results she seeks.
He also advised her to always be disciplined, say no to drugs and to be dedicated to school work as education is the key to a successful future.
Captain of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Metro Female team and member of the Pepsi Under-19 Team Shemaine Campbelle told Johnson that the teams were delighted to assist her and wished her the best in Trinidad.
Campbelle noted that the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club is committed towards assisting youths to fulfill their dreams, the West Indies cricketer urged the young athlete to work hard every day to improve her skill level and to strive to be a proper Ambassador for her School, County and Country.
Young Johnson in brief remarks expressed gratitude to the Club and promised to make everyone proud with her performance.
