CRABWOOD CREEK, CORENTYNE – Detectives in Division ‘B’ are relying on the findings of an autopsy to determine how Tir Totoram met his death. The body of the 45-year old unemployed man was discovered about 05:45 hours yesterday impaled on a steel rod.
Reports state that a neighbour was constructing a concrete gutter and steel rods were projecting from the ground. Initial investigation suggests that the man was under the influence of alcohol and had an altercation with someone.
It appears as though he was fleeing and attempted to jump across a section of the construction site when he fell on one of the steel rods. Totoram also sustained an injury to the back of his head, leaving detectives to probe deeper into the circumstances.
A source close to the investigation revealed that the Lot 61 Grant 1805 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne resident was a known drunkard and was deserted by his wife some time ago. According to reports the man had threatened several times to kill himself.
The body is now at the Skeldon Hospital. The autopsy is expected to be performed today.
