Following a break of about three weeks after the first half of the season, horses and horse owners will be heading back to the track on July 4 for the start of the second half of the racing season; this half will see the introduction of the two-year old animals.
A grand one-day meet is set for the popular Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sport Facilities (RCMTC&SF) located at Alness Village Corentyne with 8 races listed for the day and over $3M at stake in prizes. There are four main events on the day’s card with the C & Lower race, which will be run over a distance of 1600 meters, being the biggest drawing card. There are two races for 2 year-old horses as the organisers seek to give all new comers an even chance setting the scene for some interesting match ups.
The first 2 year-old event which is the final feature on the day’s card is for animals bred and born in the West Indies. The distance is pegged at 1000 meters and the winner is set to take home $200,000.
