Jun 23, 2010 Letters
Dear Editor,
June 21, 2010, I called Guyana Times for Ms. Indrawattie Natram and left a message for her to contact me. The sole reason was to indicate to her that I was impressed with her reporting on the Mangrove Project in Region Two and carried in the GT dated June 6, 2010.
I did leave my contact number and hope that she does make contact at some point because I believe that she could be very resourceful for a mini project I am about to embark on.
I guess that she is having quite a lot to handle with the physical abuse and assault on June 20, 2010 by one “Philomena,” wife of the returned abductee, Fabian Gonsalves, as reported in the GT on June 22, 2010.
I also hope that the authorities display fair justice with regards to this issue.
Journalists have got duties to carry out like any other profession and at the day, we must display respect towards these persons for their time and energies spent in executing their duties.
Such treatment could see journalists now being very selective with their assigned tasks and I honestly would not blame them.
With all due respect to the attacker, I hope to God that no family member in the distant future embarks on pursuing a career in journalism.
