Play in this year’s Annual Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships continued recently with matches played, at the National Park Tarmac.
In results of the matches played:
(Girls)-
ABC defeated Monar Educational Institute by 36 runs.
ABC led by a tournament record opening partnership between Telisha Niranjan 33 and Pratiksha Singh 29 closed on 87-0.
Monar in reply, could only muster 51-2. Seeta Pooran 11.
St. Agnes then beat 2009 runners-up St. Andrew’s by 10 runs.
St Agnes’ made 65-2 with Cassie Jhingoree 27, Joda Joseph 25, being the principal scorers.
St. Andrew’ replied with 55-2. Andriska Mickle 34.Deniola Bristol 2-7.
(Boys)-
Mae’s cruised past Josel Educational Institute by 8 wickets.
Josel 43-4, Christian Adams 11. Shamar Britton 2-11.
Mae 46-2, Britton 29, Deleney Helwick 14.
North Georgetown beat St. Andrew’s by 7 wickets.
St Andrew’s made 61-3, Kease Durant 18, Marlon Murray 11, Yufiel Mc Andrew 10.
North Georgetown 62-3.
Girls –
St. Agnes won by 6 runs over Josel.
St Agnes 78-1 with Jada Joseph 28, Deniola Bristol 21, Cassie Jhugoree 14.
Josel Educational Institute was restricted to 72-4.
Mae’s beat North Georgetown by 9 wickets.
North Georgetown 35-1 Mairanne Humphey 36 with Five 4’s & Two 6’s.
Mae’s replied with 39-1, from 3.5 overs Kadizha Benjamin 17, Ronilla Samuels 12.
Boys-
Mae’s defeated Monar by 9 wickets.
Monar Educational Institute 46-2, Dequan Bamfield 13, Shakel Cato 10. Samuel Desw 2-15
Mae’s in reply, 48-1 with Shamar Britton 32 containing 3 sixes & 3 fours, Mervin Wade 16.
North Georgetown beat West Ruimveldt by 8 runs.
North Georgetown compiled 59-5, Kadeem Blackman 18, Shamar Blackman 13, Adeyemia Watson 13. Kevin Persaud 4-3
West Ruimveldt in reply was restricted to 51-4, Dominique Dolphin 13.
St. Agnes’s beat ABC by 11 runs.
St Agnes totalled 79-2, Jamal Scipio 55 not out with 5 sixes and a similar amount of fours, Juddell Mc Allister added 17.
ABC in their turn at the crease reached 68-3. Amar Ramlall hit 36 with 5 sixes, Narayan Ramdanin contributed12.
Semi-final (Girls)-
St. Agnes’s due mainly to some sloppy fielding defeated former champions Mae’s by 9 wickets.
Mae’s made 72-3, with Crystal Haniff 36, Carla Baldie 10. Aaliyah Goodluck 2-21.
St Agnes reached their target off 4.3 overs, ending on 74-1 with Cassie Jhingoree 39, Denoila Bristol 12.
Semi-final (Boys)-
St. Agnes’s beat North Georgetown by 33 runs.
St Agnes made 96-2, Jamal Scipio 46, Jaleel Ferriera 10.
North Georgetown in reply, was pegged back for 63-4, after they were 56-2 off 3 overs at one stage. Kadeem Blackman 22, Shemar Blackman 13, Adeyemi Watson 13. Rafael Dillion 3-27.
The National Sports Commission Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport is only providing the Trophies.
Meanwhile the curtains will come down on Tuesday June 22 the National Park with the Region 4 girls and the Georgetown Boys & Girls.
The Region 4 teams Strathspey, St Mary’s, Helena & Covent Garden will be battling for the Permanent Secretary MCYS Alfred King Trophy, Noble House Sea Food, while AL Sport & Tour Promotions will be providing the Medals for the outstanding players.
The PS MCYS Alfred King, NSC Director Neendkumar and a representative from Noble House Sea Food are expected to witness the final and also assist with the presentation of prizes
Trophies are at stake for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th placed teams.
Play starts at 9:25am some 12 games are listed for the day.
Region #5 Primary Schools will for the first time be given the opportunity to compete in the End of School Year Windball Cricket Tournament, this is according to a release from the organiser.
Eight Schools have so far confirmed their interest by writing to compete in the inaugural event scheduled for June 25.
