Mabaruma teen remanded on carnal knowledge charge

An 18-year-old Mabaruma resident was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with carnal knowledge. The accused, Keireul Perez, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It is alleged that between March 1 and 3 of this year he had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 15. The charge was indictable and the accused was not required to plea. The man who was unrepresented did not utter a word to the court when asked if he had anything to say.
He was remanded and is expected to make his next court appearance on August 17.
