‘A’ Division Commander, George Vyphius, receives items on behalf of the Police Force, from Executive Director of Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc., Leon Davis.
Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc, on Wednesday last, donated 94 pairs of rain boots, 20 mountain bikes, and one dozen flashlights to the East La Penitence Police Station, the City Constabulary Department of the Mayor and City Council, the Guyana Fire Service and the East La Penitence Post Office, at a simple handing over activity at the Boardroom of its Festival City Head Office.
Representatives of the various organisations expressed the common sentiment that such an initiative was a timely one, given the weather conditions and the need for enhancement of the capabilities to carry out their mandates.
Executive Director of Food For The Poor (Guyana) Inc., Leon Davis, spoke of the importance of collaboration between the leading charity establishment and other players to ensure that the poor are not only fed, but also in receipt of the highest level of service. Among the representatives on hand was Commander of ‘A’ Division of the Guyana Police Force, George Vyphius. In expressing gratitude on behalf of the Officers of the East La Penitence Station, and the Force by extension, Commander Vyphius declared, “We are conscious about the work that is being done by this organisation to serve the community, and we’re both service organizations. We really appreciate what has happened here today”.
