Albion are this year’s Region #6 AL Sport & Tour Promotions & Stereo Sonic Primary Schools Windball Cricket Champions after they defeated St. Patrick’s of Rose Hall in the final played recently, at the Albion Sports Complex.
In the final, Albion registered victory by 6 runs.
After being invited to take first strike, Albion ended on 55-2 with Faleza Baksh 11 and 10 each from Togeta Mahadeo and Kavita Harrinarine, the principal scorers.
Bowling for St Patrick’s, MVP Maria Blair took 2-7.
When St. Patrick’s batted they were restricted to 49-1 with Blair returning to hit an unbeaten 22, while Zalika Sinclair added 10.
All Saints defeated Skeldon to take third place.
In semi-final action-
Rose Hall defeated Skeldon by 8 wickets.
Skeldon batted first and made 26-2.
Rose Hall 30-2, M Blair 17.
Albion defeated All Saints 9 wickets.
All Saints made 55-2, Tandica Reid 22 not out, Donella Joe 13.
Albion in reply, reached 57-1 thanks to 39 runs in extras.
In the Lower Corentyne Girls final-
Albion beat Cropper by 7 wickets.
Cropper made 38-6,
Albion 39-3, Yogota Mahadoo 13. Munisha Muniram 2-2.
Mc Gowan failed to compete for the trophy for the first time after losing to Albion in the semi final.
Albion batted first and scored 42-4 with Kavita Harrinarine 20 not out.
Bowling for Mc Gowan Shenella Campbell grabbed 2-2.
Mc Gowan in reply were restricted to 39-3. Devanie Bhikhan captured 2 wkts.
Meanwhile, in the Boys Division which was sponsored by the AL Sport & Tour Promotions / Noble House Seafood & R. Prashad Industries Kildonan cruised past Edinburgh by 31 runs.
Kildonan took first strike and compiled an imposing total of 93-5 with Player of the final Jagdesh Sydney hammering 37 that included 6×6’s, Joel Holder 20, Alex Williams 15. Bowling for Edinburgh, MVP Akquyl Henry took 2-27.
Edinburgh replied with 62-6. Joel Green and A. Henry with 10 runs each were the main contributors.
Bowling for Kildonan, A. Williams bagged 3-10 and Remrick Kyte 2-5.
In semi-final play- Kildonan beat St. Patrick’s by 10 wickets.
St Patrick’s made 35-2, Kelston Luke 16.
Kildonan replied with 41-0, Alex Williams 17 & J Sydney 16.
In the Lower Corentyne final Cropper defeated Tain.
Forty-six teams participated in the Region #6 Champions Trophy.
According to the Organiser Allister Munroe, special mention must be made of the Upper Corentyne Zone for their support.
