Murdered taxi driver…
NUMBER SEVEN VILLAGE, CORENTYNE – The findings of an autopsy revealed that 27-year-old Trevor Kissoon of 25 Alexander Street in New Amsterdam died from shock and hemorrhage. There was also a laceration to the brain as a result of a fractured skull. The J&N Taxi Service driver will be interred at the Stanleytown Cemetery today.
Detectives are working on a number of theories to ascertain how the man met his end. But yet still, are no closer to cracking the case. During the course of the investigation four persons, including the victim’s common-law wife, were detained, interrogated and released by last Saturday. There has been no new evidence to link anyone to the homicide hence no further arrests were made. The victim’s silver Toyota Carina AT 212, HB 7489, was not found.
A source close to the investigation indicated that detectives are to view the tape recording of scenes on the Berbice River Bridge around the time of the incident to determine whether the vehicle left East Berbice. Also of interest to police, is that the caller who requested a taxi at the Canje Turn just after 23:00 hours on Wednesday last, specifically wanted that particular model vehicle. The person had placed two phone calls and waited until it was available. Another taxi service in New Amsterdam also claimed that someone called asking them for a Toyota Carina but they had none.
Ranks in Division ‘B’ are determined to solve this case and are appealing to persons with any information on Trevor Kissoon’s death to come forward. Contact can be made with the Divisional Headquarters in New Amsterdam.
Trevor Kissoon’s battered remains were fished out of a canal at Number Seven Village last Thursday. He was dispatched to locate a passenger at the Canje Turn just after 23:00 hours the previous night. Last Thursday about 11:15 hours police got a tip-off that a body was in the said waterway. It bore wounds to the head and one above the right eye and was subsequently identified as Trevor Kissoon.
