Dear Editor,
A few weeks ago, I read a missive in the print media that called on the “Champion of the Earth” to show us his sincerity.
I’d like to congratulate my countryman and renew the call for the relaxation of all duties and taxes on hybrid cars.
In addition to this small show of good faith and judgment, our “Champion” must recognise that this is not all he can do to save the earth.
It is well within his powers to do away with all duties and taxes on all materials and equipment that are used to install alternative energy solutions.
But wait, what will make the citizens invest at least half a million dollars? I think I know. It’s something called net-metering. Instead of investing in unreliable batteries, in times of excess production of electrical power, this excess power is “sold” back to the grid; when the consumer’s alternative energy equipment is not producing enough, power is consumed from the grid.
For this to happen, Mr. Editor, our “Champion” must initiate changes in the law that will force GPL to accept net metering. I do hope that our “Champion” has what it takes to save this earth of ours.
