Almost one week after boat builder, Fabian Gonsalves was kidnapped by three unknown gunmen from his mother-in-law’s residence, at Jacklow, Upper Pomeroon; his family has since evacuated the area and is now residing at Hampton Village on the Essequibo Coast, where it is noted, Gonsalves owns two properties.
At Hampton Village the family, who was reluctant to engage the media, blamed a certain section of the media for previously reporting maliciously on aspects of the kidnapping.
One irate family member said that the family is already ‘burdened with distress because their loved one has been kidnapped’.
One female family member further disclosed that she would not be speaking to that media house ever, but would continue to divulge any further information surrounding any new development about their missing relative to the police.
Gonsalves’s wife was very abusive yesterday.
Today the police said that, like the media, they are presently being confronted with the same situation whereby the family continues to be tight lipped.
A senior police officer also noted that the police have not being able to ascertain any new development surrounding Gonsalves’s whereabouts.
Fabian Gonsalves, a boat builder, was abducted from his mother-in law, Carol Adams’s residence nearly a fortnight ago.
Many people now say that they are worried whether police will ever find Gonsalves alive. At a recent RDC meeting, PNC/R councillor, Mr. Rudolph Garraway informed councillors present that the residents in Pomeroon are now fearful and scared, especially at nights.
The councillor related that residents can’t sleep at nights and are most fearful whenever they hear the sound of a high-speed boat in the river.
A Pomeroon resident, who is also a fuel dealer, spoke of a strange boat with persons who he presumed to be foreigners purchasing three drums of gasoline the night prior to Gonsalves’s abduction.
