Dear Editor,
I am pleased to read Mr. Freddie Kissoon praising and quoting the CADRES polls daily in his columns from June 4, but I wonder whether he has reflected on the queries he made about NACTA for years and whether he plans to apply the same to CADRES.
Dr. Randy Persaud is justified in querying the publication of the CADRES poll if for no other reason than to find out how the poll was conducted and who commissioned the poll – whether in fact any of the opposition parties was involved in the conduct of the polls similar to the AFC’s commissioning of the Dick Morris polls of 2006.
However, I do not think the funding of the polls would affect its findings.
With regards to publication of the poll, readers should be reminded that Vishnu Bisram was vilified, harassed and intimidated when the findings of his NACTA poll were published last December in SN that showed a majority of voters endorsed President Jagdeo serving another term. I distinctly recall SN carried one part of the poll’s findings as news item and the others as letters. Since Bisram was subjected to intense scrutiny by Kissoon and a few other critics, it is fair game to query whether the CADRES poll has met the requirements established by the media to publish poll results – as was subjected to NACTA.
I recall Freddie filed a complaint against SN to the media board
Mr. Kissoon practically intimidated the editors of SN (in his columns as well as complaints to the media board, the AFC, PNC, etc.) compelling them to determine Bisram’s educational background, academic and polling qualifications, place of employment, history of conducting polls, NACTA’s website, funding of the NACTA polls, officers of NACTA, etc.
Having verified Bisram’s employment, Kissoon is yet to tender an apology for his egregious attacks on Bisram.
Since Kissoon has been touting the findings of the CADRES polls almost daily, I take it he has no issues with the private nature of CADRES, the pollster’s employment (not a teacher a present) and traveling status, funding of the poll by an AFC affiliate, lack of a running website, names of interviewers and their contacts, names of officers of CADRES, and the other issues he complained about NACTA.
Vishnu Bisram
