The GRFU will hold trials this Saturday and Sunday to select the Guyana National Sevens Rugby Team to participate in the Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Rugby Championship scheduled to be staged at the National Stadium.
The event will take place on July 24-25 and some eight countries are expected to participate. It was also disclosed that practice games for the National Women’s Sevens Squad will also be held as they prepare for participation in the NACRA Sevens Championships from July 26-27. This will be the first occasion that rugby will be played at the Providence Stadium.
Men’s Team Technical Director, Joe Whipple, will arrive in Guyana on Saturday to conduct the trials and he will be supported by Team Coach Theodore Henry.
Director of Sevens and Chairman of the Selection Committee Mike Mc Cormack will supervise the trials arrangements.
Team selection will be announced to the players on Sunday at 17:00 hrs at the National Park.
Trial Games for the Men’s Sevens Team are at the following times-13:00 hrs, 14:30 hrs and 16:00 hrs, while the Ladies will be held from 13:30 hrs and 15:30 hrs.
