The victim of an accident last Saturday night along the East Bank Demerara (EBD) in the vicinity of Demerara Harbour Bridge sustained a broken arm and lacerations to the head.
According to the victim, Ulele Davidson, she left her home in Water Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara Saturday night and stopped at the bus stop. “A green Tundra pass me with speed and blow up a set of dust and lots of dust went into my eyes…. Then I heard a sound; then I get hit from behind.”
She explained that someone in her neighbourhood recognised her and assisted her by placing her in a vehicle, which transported her to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Davidson disclosed she was released the same night of the accident, since her mother being a medical personnel, she was discharged into her care, however, when she visited Providence Station Sunday she was told that because of her condition, no statement would be taken from her.
When she returned Tuesday morning to the police station she was told to visit the same night, which she found to be suspicious. However, two police officers visited her residence and took a statement. They later carried her to the accident site for her to point out where she was at the time of the accident, then the police marked off the spots where the accident took place.
“How come after so long they only now marking off the accident site? “Since I go at the spot I get sick, I can’t eat and I feeling weak all the time. I can’t even sleep.”
According to Davidson, she is suspicious of certain police officers, since the driver of the vehicle wanted to compensate her, and the police carried the driver away when the topic came up. “Who will pay for the 40 days that I will not being working?”
“It appears as if the officer is corrupt. The guy want to help, but it looks like he (officer) already get help.”
According to an eyewitness in the area, when the Tundra passed, it caused a cloud of dust to be blown into Davidson face. While she was wiping her eyes a car that was coming from behind slammed into her and hurled her almost 33 feet away from the point of impact.
He said that the camera attached to M&M snackette should have everything recorded since it happened in the vicinity.
An accident between two vehicles PMM 2954 and PFF9668 last Saturday night caused damage to a church and uprooted a utility pole.
