– police to investigate
Indra Persaud, of Friendship Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara has received reports that her son has been murdered in Mahdia.
The woman, who had reported that her 17-year-old son, Mikey Moonadai, was missing since January 1, last, told Kaieteur News that after the story was published on June 1, she received two telephone calls, both giving the same information.
Mikey had been working at a camp at an unknown Mahdia location, and had gold on his person.
While he was asleep one night, he was bludgeoned to death with a piece of wood. He was buried somewhere in the vicinity of the camp. Indra said that the unknown informant would not give her the name of the camp, except to say that there were four camps near each other and that her son was buried somewhere between them.
The distraught woman has taken the information to Police Headquarters and a team will travel to the mining district later this week to begin investigations. Indra is to accompany them.
Mikey Moonadai, left home last October, the day after Diwali to go and work at a Mahdia location with a man known as Marcus. Mikey would often call home, sometimes two or three times a week. He subsequently left the job with Marcus and went to work with someone called “Dougla.”
On New Year’s Day, Mikey called home and told his father that he would be coming home for Easter. He never arrived. Late last month the family received information that Mikey had died of malaria in the backdam and was buried on Tuesday. There was no information on who had buried him or where.
While Indra is to accompany the police to Mahdia as they investigate her son’s disappearance, she is desperately short of cash to assist with her accommodation and meals.
If there is anyone willing to assist her in this manner she can be contacted through the following numbers: 6835043, 6445849, 2304368, and 6726722.
