Police are still to ascertain whether anyone will be charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of Ramona Harris two months ago.
Traffic Chief Neil Semple said that he had sent the file on the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions and is still awaiting a response.
Although the vehicle has been identified, some mystery surrounds the identity of the person who was at the wheel during the Good Friday tragedy.
Mahase Chunilall, the owner of vehicle, PMM 3248, admitted that his car was involved in the mishap.
However, he claimed that he had lent the car to an overseas-based relative who returned to the US the following day. Police have charged Chunilall, of Lot 36 South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, with breach of insurance and permitting the use of an uninsured vehicle.
Senior Superintendent Semple had said that investigators verified that an overseas-based relative of the vehicle owner was in Guyana and left the country the day after the accident.
Ramona Harris, who had a one-year-old daughter, was walking along the main road in Diamond Housing Scheme on Good Friday night when a car struck her from behind.
The driver fled the scene.
Harris suffered multiple injuries and succumbed at the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital.
