Dear Editor,
In a news item on the present imbroglio surrounding the Guyana Cricket Board, it was reported that the Treasurer did not attend the meeting called by the Honourable Minister of Sport.
Here is the Minister responsible for Sport in the Country, trying to resolve a critical impasse amidst allegations of serious financial malpractices and Mr. Ahmad stays at home whilst the Minister is trying to find a solution.
At stake is nearly one hundred million dollars ($100,000,000) spent on two hostels. Mr. Ahmad’s county being a beneficiary of one of the hostels and yet he refuses to go to the meeting.
The Minister should immediately urge the Cricket Board to dispense with Mr. Ahmad’s services and find a more responsible Treasurer.
