Dear Editor,
I am very selective in how I respond to issues in the Guyanese press these days. I am slowly realising that the axis of evil that leads the state of Guyana does not have a conscious and is on a path of self-destruction and wealth accumulation that parallel despots like Mobuto of the Congo.
Therefore it is with great restraint I respond to another irresponsible missive from one Randy Persaud by way of his letter dated 2 June 2, 2010, captioned, Bissundyal is hiding behind Dr. Jagan’s name”. I have not seen such reckless and irresponsible thoughts in a long time and what make it worst it’s coming from a so called intellectual who is supposed to be a leader of the people. Is this what a PHD has been reduced to: a “shut tail bwoy” for Bissundyal’s “naked king”?
Randy Persaud accused the poet of “lowering the level of the conversation in the nation”. Is Randy for real? What happen when the holder of the highest station of the land degenerates to a Bourda Market “buss out” with his “man kissing” comments to Freddie? Where was Randy Persaud then? It is most disgusting when people in officialdom use their office to foist their nastiness on the population and use the veil of their office to attempt to shelter from constructive criticism. What I can say is Randy Persaud has learnt well from his “naked King”.

When comments that they do not agree with are brought to light, they accuse the authors as being the “new opposition” whose mandate is to bring the Government down. No one in his right mind wants to bring the Jagdeo regime down. It is unconstitutional and just plain wrong. However if the evidence is perused as to whom is the leading advocate for the destruction of the Jagdeo regime, it’s BJ himself. His perpetual propensity for crude outburst (Dr. Byro Harry can help him with his anger management issues), unfocused and haphazard leadership style in running a potentially wealthy nation, poor reputation for deliverables with no respect for timelines and low respect for the rule of law when it does not serve his purpose are all but a few of the many contributors to the destruction of the Jagdeo regime.
Randy Persaud is paid to do a job which is to be a parrot of the “naked king” and for this he is rewarded well but in doing his job, he must never be able to tarnish the legacy of Dr. Cheddi Jagan. Dr. Jagan has a legacy – as fair leader, a just leader, a righteous leader and someone who not only talked about putting Guyana first but actually did put Guyana and its people first.
This Jagdeo regime more resembles a Burnham regime, but even Burnham had more suave and class. It is evil for Randy Persaud to attempt to bolt on this corrupt, confused and under skilled leadership style to the legacy of Dr. Cheddi Jagan. Bharat Jagdeo is no Cheddi Jagan and he will long be forgotten when the virtues of Cheddi Jagan will be cemented into the history of Guyana centuries into the future.
To the poet and writer Churamanie Bissundyal, your comments are relevant and are a fair reflection of the state of play in Guyana and I can be contacted at [email protected]. I had lunch with a British businessman who told me, he has done business all over Africa and the Caribbean but he has never found a more corrupt cabal than in Guyana. He found it extremely expensive doing business in Guyana. Of course Randy Persaud will say show me the evidence but how can I in my right mind jeopardise this man’s investments. I however know whom the Minister is and whom his advisors are and these are the men who cloth themselves as princes of the naked king and whom present themselves as purveyor of a just and a law abiding society when they are the principle law breakers in Guyana.
They are worst than ‘Fineman’ since in open daylight they steal from the taxpayers.
In closing I have arrived at the position that many of Freddie’s articles have no basis in facts and are a figment of his imagination. However, whenever he presents a nugget of fact, it presses the right buttons in the minds of the masses. The naked King, his Ministers, his Advisors and his Ambassadors are aware of the impact Freddie is having on the Indo-Guyanese psyche and this is scaring them to do dumb and cowardly acts like pouring human feces on his head. In particular, his pieces on a certain teenager companion of the “naked king” hit the right decibels of the Indo-Guyanese population who have daughters and totally disagree with this sort of behaviour. People are talking in the villages about the pimps, the premature prostitutes (teenagers) and the paying pedophiles. I encourage Freddie to continue to write since the factual elements in his writings are hitting the right nail in the coffin of the Jagdeo regime and that is the only reason he was attacked.
At the end of the day, we as members of a society will never agree on all issues but we must agree to disagree respectfully. You can take the man out of the gutter but you can never take the gutter out of the man. How can you expect respect for your fellow mankind and better politics from a leader who told Khemraj Ramjattan that “when you come to crab march you must expect mud on yu’ skin”? Well this naked king is on a perpetual crab march but the Freddie Kissoon issue has revealed that “he and his shut tail bwoys” have evolved from mud to human faeces as their principle tool of war.
