Permanent Secretary in the Sports Ministry, Alfred King along with Dwayne Lovell has been returned as President and Treasurer respectively when the Guyana Football Referees’ Council (GRFC) held its Annual General Meeting at Carifesta Sports Complex.
Dion Inniss who previously served as Assistant Secretary Treasurer was elected to the post of senior Vice President while Carlos Bernard is now the junior Vice President.
The new Secretary is Troy Peters with Elson Khirattie serving as Assistant Secretary Treasurer.
The committee members are Ingram Johnson, Stanley Lancaster and Venton Mars.
The Council also paid tribute to long-serving football referee instructor Lawrence “Sparrow” Griffith who was appointed honorary member for his contribution to the referees’ body.
Griffith served previously as a senior Vice President but declined to be re-elected.
King called on the referees to work closely to improve the work of the Council. He said the Council needed to find new partnership with other organizations including the business community as well as to push its the membership drive.
Referees from Linden, Berbice, East Coast Demerara, Bartica, West Demerara and Georgetown attended the meeting.
