Deochand Ramlochan, aka Buckman, died after suffering a second heart attack last Tuesday evening at his La Belle Alliance home. The former employee of Lands and Survey, was employed as an Enhancement Officer within the Housing Department at the time of his death.
His wife, Daywattie Ramlochan, said that her husband was hospitalised after he suffered a heart attack last April. The grieving woman said that her husband, who was also a diabetic, was in high spirits the day he died.
According to the woman, on Monday last he came home earlier in the day, about 11:00hrs, for lunch.
Mrs. Ramlochan said later that day while she was in the lower flat she was alerted by a strange sound from their bedroom which, at first, she ignored. Moments later she said she heard a louder noise and this time she immediately ventured upstairs to enquire.
She found her husband lying on the floor with froth emanating from his mouth. She said his eyes were partially open but he was not responding as she repeatedly called his name.
Mrs. Ramlochan, who was alone, said that she tried to revive her husband by shaking him but that failed.
She said that she screamed for her neighbours’ assistance but they were not at home. Daywattie described her husband as hardworking, a man who always wore a smile; and was also soft spoken.
They had been married for 31 years. Ramlochan will be cremated today leaving behind his wife and his four children.
