Dear Editor,
In responding to Randy Persaud’s letter, “Bisssundyal is hiding behind Dr. Jagan’s name,” I would like to make a preliminary point: There are two kinds of mercenaries, (i) the killer mercenary, and (ii) the propaganda or information mercenary.
The killer mercenary is a hired and paid killer to take the lives of people. The propaganda mercenary, equally notorious, callous, and dangerous, is also a hired and paid man or woman, but he/she differs from the killer mercenary with a job not to kill people physically but to assassinate characters.
In Guyana today we have both types of mercenaries – the killer and the propaganda, both are hired by politicians for filthy and murderous work to achieve political ends.
In the unprecedented saga of the political plot and scheme of throwing filth on Freddie Kissoon to silence him, I have seen the propaganda mercenary at work, some being trained university men; some ordinary journalists.
In the history of Guyana, I have never seen such an abundant and opulent crop of paid liars. And this tells the story of the plight of Guyana today. We in Guyana no longer think of opening industries and addressing social inequities.
In our immersion in stealing, we hire men – killing and propaganda men – to silence protesting voices to clear the way for us to steal more. Freddie Kissoon is right: Lava with its steam is building up for an explosion, and when the volcano erupts, a lot of mercenary men will resort to their visas, green cards, or naturalized passports to catch the first plane to North America.
I hope the US and Canadian embassies take note.
I read Randy Persaud’s reply carefully. He is a man abstruse, astute, and reflective, good at spinning out interpretations. He writes things that he himself would not read, in a professorial way only to flaunt academic excellence, his chest pushed out in his engrossment in methodologies and philosophies, things that will make fine sleeping tablets or lullabies for hardworking men like Freud, Spinoza, and Aristotle.
That is why he was so analytic and prolific in the fecal theories that have made history in Guyana. Certainly, as Freddie’s name will go down in history as the first writer to be attacked with filth, Randy’s name will shine also as a man who played his own little part. So Randy now is a famous man.
I guess Randy has been spinning so much that his brains begin spinning now. Which top Jaganite or Burnhamite can claim that the people of Guyana, especially those that were children in the fifties and sixties, did not grow up in the political orchard of Jagan or Burnham? Many of us might not have been visible in party pageantries, but we had prospered or suffered in our political allegiance to either Jagan or Burnham. Even Freddie Kissoon, who is so critical of the PPP government, grew up in the political orchard of Cheddi Jagan.
Would one say that Moses Bhagwan, Joshua Ramsammy, Ravi Dev, Khemraj Ramjattan, and Rupert Roopnarine did not grow up in the political orchard of Cheddi Jagan? What a slingshot stupidity for a gunslinger man!
Randy seems to have a gift for annotating my work with afterworld flavour and erotic succulence; therefore, for Guyanese to see and hear more of his pugilistic tantrums and melodramatic screams, I will ask him to read my novel,
The Players of Kassaku, a satirical novel of the political era of Jagan and Burnham. He may scream a lot to face my lurid scenes and controversial characters, and even to shoot more sandflies, but that may be good for any imported man who finds himself in the middle of propaganda feculence. Then he can talk a little more with these top Jaganites.
