The semi-final of the Mayor’s Cup football championship will be contested at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda tonight.
Action kicks off from 6:00pm with the opening contest with the nightcap and feature contest at 8:00pm. In the first match of the exciting double header Riddim Squad tackle the GDF while in the second encounter Fruta Conquerors go head to head with Santos.
Riddim squad will bank their aspirations on Sherwin, Sheldon, Sceyon and Steffon hope with help from Llyton and Amos Ramsey.
Stellon David will continue to render efficient service in the striking position. A fearsome footballer, David could turn the tide for his team at any time. He could depend on support from Trevon Lythcott, Royan Morrison, Desford Williams and Marlon Washington. Add Telson McLennon to the clan and a mouthwatering contest is in the making.
Santos will feel comforted with the presence of former national youth striker, William Europe with support from Shemroy Arthur, Trevor Lewis, Kasi John, O’Neal Heywood and Glenorvan Edmonds. While the pundits may take one glance at this formidable lineup and declare Santos as the winners, they may do well to examine the composition of their rivals.
Yes, Fruta Conquerors will compete devoid of the services of their star striker Manasseh Primo but would bank heavily of the rampaging team of Neville Stanton, Paul Bobb, Mustapha Haqq, Jomo Hinds, Dellon Williams, Joslyn Harry, Sheldon Shepherd and Eon Alleyne. With such a formidable line up they may fancy their chances of a clear cut win. It will boil down to which team wants it bad enough.
