The nation’s top chess players would vie for honours when the Guyana Chess Federation in collaboration with DDL / Topco Juices stages its Open Chess Tournament at the KEI-SHAR’S Sports Club, Camp & Hadfield Sts, starting tomorrow afternoon.
The competition is organized in a three tiered format that will see players battling for honours in the senior, junior and beginners, 13 years and under. Several top players are expected to participate in the tournament including local champion, Wendell Muesa, Errol Tiwari, Shiv Nandalall and Taffin Khan among others.
The junior category will see such players as Saeed Ali, Raan Motilall, Devendra Singh and Rashad Hussain among others.
Meanwhile, a representative of DDL would be on hand today at the KEI-SHAR’S Sports Club to hand over the sponsorship cheque to the organizers.
