Dear Editor,
I am responding to Randy Persaud’s letter titled, “Bissundyal’s article has done nothing but lowered the level of dialogue.”
First, there are strident sighs of whining, driving, and exploding in Randy’s piece, a lewd vehemence to defend the rakshasa (demon) that tries to kill the moon and eat babies at night.
What dialogue can there be in the university of filth? How can I lower something when it has already reached the superlative of lowness, a lowering beyond correction and redemption?
What can be wilder and more irresponsible in the plot, schemes, execution and celebration of throwing filth on a poor writer whose only sin is inking paper with words?
What can be more unfair than leaders, ministers, advisors, and ambassadors pushing their heads into golden tanks of filth to corroborate the thesis of corruption, lies, vindictiveness, personal malice, thievery, and profits from the blood of the poor and wretched in Guyana?
I grew up in the political orchard of a heroic man, Cheddi Jagan, and later was blessed with the opportunity and stint of writing for his newspaper for several years.
Those days we had healthy men of intellect, class, personality, grace, decency, reservation, mercy, forgiveness, and sympathy.
Cheddi, though his opponents would attack and demean him to the point of killing anguish, he held no malice and desperation for sordid reprisals.
I saw this after he won the 1992 general elections, how he embraced affably and spoke kindly to some of his most virulent attackers.
Today in Guyana we have no such men, save corrupt men who are immersed in the inferno of violence and thievery; men like rabid and hungry dogs hunting for perks and bribery in every quarter and moment of their lives; low men with their bellies distended to kiss their toes, their faces perpetually flushed with liquor, their backs bent with days of notorious and nocturnal errands; empty, chimpanzee-walking men dreaming of free duck curry and rum, their brains and moral sense eaten away by the monsters of cheating, plotting and lying. In Guyana today we have only a few men.
I had spent my days in Guyana for the most of my natural life. I had passed through governments both bad and good, but if there is anything to demean a Guyanese, it is Jagdeo’s government with its over-filled-bellied men, their minds and tongues glued to orifices of pleasures.
What can be more evil than men creating phantom names to write letters to assassinate the names of their brothers?
Guyana is no longer producing an abundance of sugar, rice, gold and bauxite, but a prolific harvest of trickster men, neat men in the craft of crookery to create phantoms for both the reader and the protester.
Yes, I read all of Kissoon’s articles. Some are excellent; some are poor. Some are revealing; some are emotional. But if there is anyone to denigrate the East Indian mind it is the aforementioned infamous clique.
What greater harm or wrong can there be than to silence or enslave the human mind?
In my opinion, every Indian in Guyana is bewitched, blinded or terrorized into accepting the foul and filthy drama in Guyana.
I must divulge this: today in the government’s camp are many East Indians who were the terrier dogs in the PNC government, men who did work that defies all the beliefs of Cheddi Jagan.
I am sorry for the Indians of Guyana, for devils in angel masks are dancing among them.
In concluding, I will just stress that I am aware that Randy Persaud, in his great propaganda work, will say anything for his bread and butter.
He also is a great champion today – writing and bucking with doctoral, academic sentences to produce dissertations of fancies.
In my childhood days, the boys would have called him a gunslinger shooting sandflies with a slingshot.
Even the carrion crows of Guyana would weep or laugh at what he wrote.
Churaumanie Bissundyal
