Police Sports Club and Royal Youth Movement took the women’s and men’s teams titles yesterday at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary when the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) staged its inaugural Under-23 Track and Field Championships.

In the women’s competition, Police Sports Club had 147 points after 12 finals while Royal finished with 120.5 points for second place as the Guyana Defence Force took the third place honour with 53.5 points.
Rising Stars was fourth with 38 points as Running Brave Athletics Club rounded off the top five with 30 points in the women’s team competition.
Royals, however, returned in the male version of the contest to top the field with 122.75 points as Police were left in second with 115 points. The Guyana Defence Force took the third place honour with 89.5 points yesterday.
Upper Demerara was fourth in the men’s competition with 39 points as Running Brave rounded off the top five with 15 points after 12 finals. Bedford Athletic Club had 12.75 points for sixth while Ruralites, Rising Stars and Enmore finished with 11, 6 and 4 points respectively.
