A 46-year old man is presently on life support after he was allegedly struck down by a pickup truck, which was allegedly driven by a drunk driver. According to relatives, Ervin Benjamin, 46, of Post Office Street, Grove, East bank Demerara was walking on the Grove Public Road, when he was struck from behind.
Benjamin’s sister Dorcy Greene said that the accident happened shortly before 21:00hrs on Saturday night. Benjamin, who suffered a fractured skull and neck, is a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital and his condition is listed as critical. Kaieteur News understands that the driver of the vehicle has since been taken into custody.
