…prisoners beat one
WHIM, CORENTYNE – Constable 20687 Kelon Kingston, a 23-year-old resident of Lot 33 Public Road, Rosignol, who was stationed at the Central Police Station in New Amsterdam, and his partner 30-year- old Elroy Lancaster of 57 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam were both remanded to prison on Friday.
The men appeared before Magistrate Tajpaul Ramroop at the Albion Magistrate’s Court on Friday to answer the charges of robbery and possession of narcotics.
The matter was transferred to the Whim Magistrate’s Court and would be called up on June 21.
But hours after he was admitted to the New Amsterdam Prisons as a guest of the state, Elroy Lancaster is now a patient of the New Amsterdam Hospital. He was reportedly beaten by his fellow inmates.
Up to late yesterday evening, the matter was not officially reported to police in Berbice.

About 11:30 hours on May 25, the duo allegedly entered the home of Madhumatie Cush of 71 Kingston, Corriverton, under the pretext that they were searching for illicit drugs. They allegedly relieved her of $40,000 and a pair of artificial bangles worth $5,000.
About 45 minutes after escaping from the scene, police ranks intercepted the vehicle carrying the pair and searched it. Some eight grams of crack cocaine was discovered.
