An interesting scenario developed in the Godfrey ‘Half man’ Inter primary school football competition which was played recently at the All Saints Scott Church Ground for Primary schools in the New Amsterdam Area.
Four schools participated in the competition namely All Saints Primary, St Therese, St Aloysius and New Amsterdam Primaries. Six games were played with all the games being drawn and no goals scored. Eventually the winners had to be decided on penalty kicks and in the ensuing shoot outs All Saints emerged winners, with St. Therese coming in second and New Amsterdam Primary third.
At the end of the competition each team was awarded with a trophy by the sponsors. In addition the outstanding individual players were all presented with medals; namely Nicolas Patoir –NA Primary best goalkeeper, Best Defence Stayon Samuels – St Therese, the best midfielder award went to Josh Butts of St Aloysius and receiving the best striker award was Devon Dover of All Saints Primary.
The competition was organised by the Eleazor family in collaboration with the Hearts of Oak veteran football club and was coordinated by former national footballer Neil “Grizzly” Humphrey. The Family has pledged to continue to sponsor the competition.
