Over 60 horses have taken entry so far for the annual grand fund raising one day Charity Horserace meet organized by the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Andrew in the Anglican Diocese, which is set for this Sunday May 30 at the Rising Sun Race track, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
Seven races are listed on the days programme with three being feature events and are expected to attract the cream of the crop in the horse racing circle.
The C class, The Three Year Guyana and West Indies bred and F class events are the main attraction on the day’s agenda and with over $3M cash and prizes at stake horseracing pundits will be in for a treat.
The feature C class event has pulled an impressive field with the likes of Miss Orientate, The Message, Sweet Caramel Madame Butterfly, Tropical Passion, Pinch D Cash and Laura lee In Flight, all previous winners among the starting line up, a spectacular event is on the making. The winner is expected to run away with over $400,000 with the distance being 1400M.
The 3yrs old open 1300M sprint has $250,000 as the first prize and again the field looks impressive with Zionata starting as favourites but with the likes of Gem Pride, Stormy Water, The sky is The limit, Stormy Lass, Stormy Deal, Megan’s Choice, The Gump and Savion in the running it will have its work cut out.
The other events listed on the day programme are all 1300M sprints.
The F and lower showdown has a pole position prize of $160,000 and as usual the lineup is impressive and among those going will be the Gap, Night Crescendo, Romantic Passion and Sea Rocket all looking to explode and blow away the rest of the field.
The G and lower gallop will see the winner taking home $140,000.
The ‘I and lower race has $120,000 available as the top prize and among the contenders are Five Star general, Quincy, Star Again, Sunday Star , Infinity and dream Girl.
The Division One and Two contest will go for a winning money of $100,000, while the Division three event will see the winner collecting $80,000.
Race time is 13.00 hrs.
The champion jockey and Trainer will receive trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda market.
According to the organizers Inshanally and Fazal Habibulla the event is definitely on despite recent showers. The drainage system has been enhanced to allow quick drainage of the facility. The organizers have also upgraded the track and a new stand has been built for the absolute comfort of horseracing fans
Horse owners are also reminded to get their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, as those horses not properly entered will not be allowed to participate in the day’s proceedings.
