Residents of Middle Road and Sideline Dam, La Penitence, banded together to clean their neighbourhood by excavating and clearing the drains and irrigation channels.
According to the chairman of the Community Democratic Council, Anita Thorne, a meeting was recently held with Deputy Mayor Robert Williams and members of City Hall.
She explained three areas were identified for the necessary works— Yarrow Dam, Riverview, and Sideline Dam. Members in the community are asking for equipment to assist in the waste removal.
Anita said since the main drains have been cleaned the water lodged on persons properties had drained.
“We try to avoid flooding in the area; we need tools and help.” She said.
