… Judges to make ruling next week
Within a matter of days the judges in the cocaine in pinksuit case High Court matter will make their ruling on the matter involving the Director of Public Prosecution, Roderick Peterkin and Morris Smith.
Yesterday the matter was called again before Justice, Roxanne George-Wiltshire and Justice William Ramlal.
At the hearing Attorney-at-Law Nigel Hughes drew to the judges’ attention a letter which was published in some sections of the media.
Justice George-Wiltshire acknowledged the fact that she too noticed the letter. She then enquired from Mrs. Shalimar Ali Hack’s lawyer, Doodnauth Singh, if he saw the letter. Singh responded in the negative, while noting that he did not have any discussion with his client about the letter.
Justice George-Wiltshire further asked the DPP, who was not present in court, to refrain from such behaviour as a litigant in the matter.
Meanwhile, the Senior Counsel further deliberated on his submission, which states that Counsel for the applicants, Mr. Nigel Hughes, invoked the wrong jurisdiction in bringing the action.
He went on to read verbatim from his written submissions, which were submitted to the court for the last hearing.
The judges then informed both parties that they would be making their ruling next Tuesday.
