Teenager arrested for sexually assaulting sister

Police at Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, have arrested a 17-year-old male who reportedly raped and sodomised his 13-year-old sister at their home after inflicting a severe beating on her on Sunday night.
The teenager was arrested early yesterday morning and has reportedly denied committing the offence, although his sister showed physical signs of being sexually molested.
According to police, this is not the first time that the girl was molested by her brother. Kaieteur News understands that the teenagers’ mother is hospitalised and that they are left in the care of their father.
On Sunday, the father left to take meals for his wife, leaving the children alone at home.
It is alleged that the 17-year old came home and immediately accosted his younger sister and a heated argument ensued.
The teenager then dragged his sister into a room where he allegedly committed the act, despite the protests of his other younger siblings.
The victim subsequently ran to the police station where she reported the matter but police were unable to arrest the suspect until yesterday.
