Champions Helena (Girls) and Mahaica (Boys) pose for a photo op shortly after winning their respective Zone finals recently.
Mahaica (Boys), Helena (Girls), Eastern Leguan and Richmond Hill won their respective Zone finals as play in this year’s countrywide Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships continued, at different venues recently.
In results of the Upper East Coast Zone-
(Boys)- Mahaica defeated debutant Ann’s Grove in the final by 6 wickets.
Ann’s Grove invited to take first strike made 44-3 with Joel Wilson 12, Dexter Marshall 11 & Daniel Pelleu 10. Orette Todd captured 2-19.
Mahaica in reply, reached 45-4 off 3.5 overs, Kelvin James stroked 24. Tevin Howard 2-7 & Kelvin Williams 2-19.
In semi-final action-
Ann’s Grove beat another debutant Clonbrook by 16 runs.
Ann’s Grove compiled 62-2, D Marshal 19, Jamal Bastiani 17. Kapel Dev Hemchand grabbed 2 wkts.
Clonbrook were then restricted to 46-4 with Joshua Ghansam 13.Tevin Howard bagged 3 wkts.
Mahaica then eased past Gibson by 9 wickets.
Gibson batted first and made 42-1 with Dave Williams 24 and Donavon Conway 12, being the principal contributors.
Mahaica replied with 48-1. Kelvin James top-scoted with 27, while Odwin Campbell added 13.
Earlier, Helena lost to Mahaica by 10 wickets.
Helena 47-6, Karan Singh 30. Orette Todd picked up 4 wkts.
Mahaica made 48-0 with K James 26 and Davigh Singh 20.
(Girls) – Debutant Helena defeated 2009 Region #4 champions Gibson by 9 wickets.
Gibson 29-1, Lashuana Jones 10.
Helena 32-1, off 4 overs with Mandy Mangru 19.
Semis-
Gibson beat Mahaica by 15 runs.
Gibson 49-3.
Mahaica 34-6, Tiffanna Mansfield 10.
Helena defeated Clonbrook by 15 runs.
Helena 33-1.
Clonbrook 18-4 M Mangru picked up 3 wkts.
Over in Leguan in the Seerja Construction Company tournament played, at the Maryville School ground:
(Boys)-
Eastern Leguan beat Richmond Hill by 24 runs.
Eastern Leguan closed on 49-2, Azeemul Khan 22, Phillip Ramdass 17.
Richmond Hill replied with 25-8 with Ravindra Persaud 13. A Khan 3-7, Phillip Das 2-3, Shohib Khan 2-12.
In the girls’ final, Richmond Hill romped to an easy 10 wickets win over Maryville.
Maryville 56-1, Devina Byer 31.
Richmond Hill 61-0, Keisha Tucker 41, Dularie Thomas 11.
