Giftland OfficeMax continued its established benevolence in sponsoring sports yesterday when the corporate giants contributed to Beepat Scorpions’ Inter-Organisation Basketball tournament that will be held tomorrow.
Giftland’s Marketing Manager, Compton Babb told Kaieteur Sport that the company holds it a privilege to be associated with the tournament for the third consecutive year. He said that he is pleased with the contributions they have made.
“We have been contributing to the tournament not only financially, but we now also have a team that will be apart of it,” he said at the company’s Water Street location. He said he would like to see a female aspect added to the event.
In response, Beepat Scorpions’ Head Coach, Vijay Panday thanked Giftland and pledged to continue working in corporation with the company for future events. “This is good for the development of the club and basketball,” he said.
The Annual Beepat Scorpions’ Inter-Organisation Basketball tournament jumps off at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall tomorrow with 21 organisations already registered. The event is slated for one day and should have a record participation.
The tournament aims at targeting players within those organisations, who do not often get opportunities to play basketball outside work hours.
Initially, the club had also set out the competition as a family day out for employed ‘ball’ players.
