Dear Editor,
I would like to see our opposition parties and trade union movement represent workers, who paid their contributions to the NIS for decades, and when these people retire they cannot collect the benefits they are entitled to from the NIS.
Take the case of Indrawattie Gewan mentioned in the letter column of Kaieteur News of May 18th .here is a woman who worked her whole working life in the education service and now on her retirement she cannot collect her pension. That is a violation of her human rights, and I know Gewan is one of many such cases.
Come TUC and FITUG, represent Indramattie and others like her.
Geewan unlike so many NIS causalities is bold enough to come forward to expose what the scheme is doing to her.She must be supported by the workers’ movements.
