– payments will be credited immediately, timely bills a reality
The Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) is in the process of introducing a new customer service system that will allow payments made at any networked commercial office to be processed immediately to accounts.
According to the GPL release, the modern Customer Information System (CIS) will significantly assist the company in its continuous efforts to provide an improved quality of service to customers.
This project is being funded by the Inter American Development Bank under the Loss Reduction Investments Management Programme, and is scheduled to be fully implemented by the end of this month, GPL said.
With the CIS, there will be an immediate allocation of a customer account and customer number on receipt of an application for an electricity supply, the company said.
Additionally, the system will allow for a timely processing of bills, ensure accuracy and integrity of data and ensure that all monies collected are integrated.
The company explained that the key objective of the Customer Information System is to ensure that the solutions implemented are flexible enough to respond to the inevitable changes in the internal and external business environment.
“It will also provide solutions that will improve the quality of our customer service and allows quality Information Technology System to support GPL’s business well into the future.”
In addition, the new system will allow the commercial staff at all nine locations countrywide to have real time and up-to-date information on all GPL’s customers, the release explained.
“The major benefits of the CIS will allow customers’ accounts to be adjusted and new bills immediately regenerated. Also, queries will be monitored effectively among other things.”
